In this seminar we will teach the basics of accounting and finance and how these two critical elements of business relate to Human Resources.  As organizations continue to evolve and become more complex, human resourse professionals will require a more complete understanding of the financial side of business.  Beyond basic personnel and compliance issues, HR professionals are now a resource for management to assist with planning, budgeting and financial modeling.  By learning and understanding accounting and the business process, HR professional can begin to more closely align their HR strategies with that of their business.

Included in our discussion will be an introduction to (or refresher of ) debits and credits and the governing bodies of accounting, as well as more in-depth explanations of the following.

Understanding the groups of major accounts
Financial Statements: What they are, how to decipher them
Types of accounting (accrual vs. cash): What HR needs to understand about the two
Financial and business planning: Business process, budgeting and types of budgets, payroll and HR related activities
Positioning HR as Strategic Partner: Total rewards model & design process, defining the strategic business partner role, developing HR goals taht meet business goals
