This 8-hour course is designed for law enforcement officers and non-governmental social service providers to acquaint them with the crime of human trafficking. The primary focus of the course is to provide the student with an understanding of the origins and methods of operation traffickers use to control their victims. It will also provide the student with a better understanding of the unique victimization process. The course will acquaint law enforcement personnel with a victim-centered investigative and collaborative approach to dealing with human trafficking. An emphasis will be placed on the importance of a team approach including the investigative and rescuing of the victim(s) by law enforcement and the role of the social service providers in providing services. Certified Law Enforcement Trainer, Thomas Gillan will utilize PowerPoint and video resources to enhance the learning experience and handout materials will be provided.
